No update re exploration of the Pyramid of Khufu

Thanks to everyone who has emailed asking if I've heard anything about the examination by robot of the Pyramid of Khufu at Giza which was supposed to take place on the 26th of this month. Unfortunately I'm in the same position as the rest of you - I've had no information on the subject. But I'll post something the moment I hear anything.

The original announcement that the invesitgation was to take place was posted on the Egypt State Information Service website (thanks to Brian Donovan for the link).

Zahi stated that he had already chosen a new team for the re-exploration efforts. The new robot was supposed to arrive in egypt this month (July). I may be mistaken but the new robot was commissioned out of the UK (?). I think you can find the interview on youtube.

I found the link. I was mistaken about finding it on youtube. Here is the link:

Aha, and how can you be that sure, Fred?
Maybe there's nothing, and yes, Zahi can be a little sensationalistic from times to times.
Still, the outlook of that robot climbing into a shaft that has been closed for 4500 years is fascinating to me - bear in mind that the Khufu pyramid is one of the world's best "known" monuments

I think the one thing we can all agree on is that he is building anticipation.

Hmmm...

Wonder if that is a coincidence?!

Is there a 3D drawing of the pyramid that shows where the robot will be exploring, so we can have a frame of reference?

A quick update: Dr Zahi stated in his lecture at Indianapolis stated that:

The 'Leeds' robot is in the field - not just testing anymore - since last week. He also mentions a 'major breakthrough' on July 31th.

(According to Keith Payne's summary of the lecture on Heritage Key. Some more snippets of information on both robots in the interview with Dr Zahi)
